There are a lot of people and businesses out there that still like to use personal checks. It is important to be able to find important information on your checks, as well as some different ways that you can personalize them.

It seems like lately checks have become a less popular method of payment due to the usage of debit cards and online banking. The thing is that we still need checks for things like bill paying and business transactions.

There are a lot of check printing companies online that offer an endless amount of options for those who order their checks. Basically, you can get any design that you could imagine on your checks now. Most people enjoy expressing their individuality through the check designs that they choose. When you use designer checks you actually get all sorts of compliments on them. You should definitely be able to identify and find the vital information printed on your checks. Generally people don't really know what the purpose is for all of the numbers on their checks or the meaning behind them. Most people end up needing to know their routing number for one reason or another, so it is helpful to learn this information.

When you take a look at your checks you will see that there are three very important sets of numbers on them. One set of numbers is your routing number, and it is located on the lower left side of your checks.

The vast majority of people have no idea what a routing number even is. It is actually a nine digit number. The first four digits are for identification purposes with the U.S Federal Reserve's check processing center. The four numbers that come after that are specific to the bank where your checks are processed. The last number is for check verification, and there is a unique formula that decides this number based upon the previous eight numbers.

The set of eight numbers that comes after your routing number is your bank account number, and this number will remain the same on each of your checks. This is the number that you would use to set up payments online or to use specific online banking systems.

Your checks will come with your name printed on them, along with your phone number and address. Some check printing companies even allow you to upload photos for them to print on your checks. With this option you can use personalized photos of pets, grandchildren or even your own personal artwork. Businesses love having the opportunity to get their logos printed on their checks. This gives them an excellent chance to gain some brand recognition.

Even though debit cards are more common these days, a lot of people still prefer to use checks to make purchases. People love all of the design options as well as all of the accessories that you can get to go with the checks. Plus, we still need personal checks for enough things that they are far from becoming obsolete.
