It may cross your mind to attempt a switch to a dedicated server, but you should know that this is not your only option. With a virtual private server you can get similar benefits to what you get with a dedicated server, but you will only have to pay a fraction of the cost. With a virtual private server you get your own isolated space on the server that is partitioned off from everyone else. Every partitioned space functions as an individual server that is much like a dedicated server. You get to have a separate operating system for your website, so you don't have to worry about being affected by what the other users on the server are doing. Additionally, resources won't be a problem because you get a guaranteed share of RAM, CPU and disk space that no one can use but you. Even when you are not using the resources, they still belong to you. You can also expect to get your own mail server and spam filter. These will be much more sophisticated and reliable than what you would get with a shared server. You will also find that a VPS server will offer you a lot more control than what you get with shared hosting. With this type of hosting, not only do you get root access to your partition but you can install your own chosen programs and make configurations. A nice benefit of using these servers is that you can reboot them yourself at any time. You can additionally host multiple websites and add domain names on your own. There is also the option of hosting other people's sites with a virtual private server. For this reason a virtual private server is ideal for freelance web designers and website design firms. The best thing about virtual private servers is that they offer a lot of the same benefits as a dedicated server, only without being so expensive. The only downside is that you have to maintain it yourself. This means you are responsible for security and updates. In order to manage your own virtual private server you will need to have a fair amount of technical knowledge and a significant amount of time. However, if you are unable to maintain your own server you can find a solution in managed VPS hosting. Even though it costs a bit more, it is a nice package because everything is done for you. It is much less expensive to get a managed virtual private server than it is to get a managed dedicated server. If you have succeeded in outgrowing a shared server but you don't really need a dedicated server yet, you may find that this is an ideal solution for you. A VPS server will be advantageous to you in a sense that you will get increased security as well as more privacy and control than you would with a shared server, all at a price that won't break the bank.
