You may even want to get extra help from a drywall contractor in the event that you need your interior painted. However, there are a lot of painting contractors that can take care of both jobs for you. The main thing is, if your walls have any holes or dents in them, you shouldn't start to have them painted unless you've got someone who can repair them first. If you don't, you will not like the end result of your paint job. When you are hiring a painting contractor there are many things that you have to think about. Much of the project will be dependent upon the condition of the drywall in your home. In some cases, there may be areas that have to be replaced rather than repaired. The drywall will also have to be sanded down before it can get painted. Plus, the size of your home makes a difference, as this is really the only way to get an accurate estimate as to how long the job will take to complete. Understandably, you will want to have the entire job finished in a fairly short amount of time. This isn't the type of project that you want to let drag on. You should make sure that your floor and furniture gets protected from paint and dust. Those that you have hired should lay down tarps before they begin any work on your home. You could usually expect your project to be done in roughly a week, however this timeframe may vary a little depending upon the amount of drywall repair that will be required as well as the size of the project. Also, anytime holes have been patched up in drywall, the work will have to completely dry before the contractors can start painting. The best contractors will always make sure that they are using high quality paint in order to ensure that the work they do on your home will last a decent amount of time. When you are going over what colors of paint you want with your contractor, they will also have you choose what finish you would like. Keep in mind that if you have any imperfections in your drywall, a glossy finish will make them stand out. If you opt for a matte finish it will help mask the imperfections. In the event that you are able to find a company to offer you both drywall and painting work, you could get one estimate for the entire job. This would be an ideal situation rather than hiring out contractors from separate companies. In most cases, you will have great success and satisfaction with the work that you get from your contractor. It's just better to know these things in advance so that you have a better chance at having a good experience with the particular painting contractor you have chosen.
