No actor is going to be able to realistically take on the role of a boxer without looking like one, and in his hit movie "The Fighter" Mark Wahlberg couldn't have looked better. Of course, now tons of guys are trying to figure out exactly how he did it. His workout routine is becoming quite popular now in the fitness circuit, and it's easy to see why. It works.

These days everything is all about speed, and people never want to take their time on anything. However, you may be surprised that Mark spent 2 full years preparing for this role. He took it very seriously, and wanted everything to be perfect. Sometimes the best results are those that aren't rushed. Maybe more people should take this approach to exercise and focus on quality rather than speed. Anyone can achieve a certain type of results quickly by doing it a certain way, but you can get the absolute best results when you exercise some patience.

When it comes to the actual Mark Wahlberg workout, he would never leave out the warm up. You have to do this so that you can gradually elevate your heart rate. The way that he did it was by using a jump rope. This was also an effective way to gain agility, which is vital to a boxer in the ring. The warm up was then followed by boxing exercises for 45 minutes. Sometimes he would use a bag, and sometimes he would work with a partner.

You may not realize just how intense a boxing workout can actually be. You are in constant movement while you are moving side to side on your feet. Every time you throw a punch you are exerting great force and energy. Plus, by doing the actual boxing workouts, Mark was also more able to put himself in the role of a boxer. It became more real to him and enabled him to play the role more realistically. Anyone who needs to get rid of a significant amount of fat would most definitely benefit from this workout significantly, as you can really burn a lot of calories with this workout. Just imagine what kind of physical fitness you would be in once you were completing a 45 minute boxing workout on a regular basis!

However, it doesn't end there. Once he completes the boxing workout he then moves on to a strength training session. He does a various super-sets and keeps his rest time limited in between sets. One thing that makes him even more awesome is that he wears a weighted vest the entire time he is doing his strength training!

Of course you must have noticed that he has six pack abs. The interesting thing about his workout is that it doesn't even include ab training! As it turns out, you can get an amazing set of abs like Mark Wahlberg when you combine a high intensity workout with some strength training and keep being consistent when it comes to doing your workouts on a regular basis.
