The kegel exercise is intended to strengthen the pelvic muscles of both men and women. It used to be that these exercises were mostly recommended for women only. However, they have become increasingly popular for men in recent days for several reasons.

By doing these exercises, men can add additional support to their bladder and urethra. The result of doing these exercises regularly is that the pelvic muscles become stronger, and this gives increased control over the bladder and the bowels. Additionally, they can help a man to have better control over ejaculation. These are ideal exercises for men who have issues with premature ejaculation.

There are various reasons why a man would develop weak pelvic muscles to begin with. Sometimes it is caused by being overweight. Other reasons are the lack of physical activity, regular aging, bladder strain or surgery on the prostate gland.

Before you go about trying these exercises yourself, it is important that you are able to identify the proper muscle that you need to exercise. You want to avoid exercising your back, your abdominal muscles or the muscles in your upper legs. In order to find the right muscles to exercise, try to stop in midstream next time you are urinating. The muscles that you use to do this are the ones that you need to focus on. However, do not try to do a kegel exercise while you are urinating, because doing so may cause a urinary infection.

You can start doing the exercises as soon as you have located the right muscles. The best part about these exercises is that you can do them anywhere, anytime. First, make sure that you have emptied your bladder. Then go ahead and contract your pelvic floor muscles for up to 5 seconds. Then wait 10 seconds in between before repeating. Do the exercises in repetitions of 10 if you can, and try to do them 1-3 times each day. At first, you may not be able to hold the contractions very long, but this is normal. With practice you will get better and you will soon be able to hold them for longer periods of time with no problem, as your muscles will have been building strength. Once you notice that your muscles are getting stronger, you should slowly begin to hold your contractions longer. Try to go for 10 seconds each time if you can.

It can be difficult sometimes to remember to add things like this into your daily routine. It will help you remember if you always do them at the same times each day. For example, you could try to always do them at breakfast, lunch and dinner. You could also decide that when you are driving you will do them at every red light or stop sign. Just little things like that help you remember them more easily.

If you do it the way you are supposed to, kegel exercise can have amazing benefits for men in a medical sense as well as in the bedroom.
