Picking a dedicated server hosting package that offers more than your needs can waste your money and waste resources. If you pick a package that doesn't meet your requirements, this can negatively impact your website's speed and reliability. Think about why you want a hosting package. For example, perhaps you want a dedicated server package that has a physical server dedicated solely to your use. You can configure dedicated servers however you like and install whatever you want on them. The RAM and CPU resources that come with a dedicated server are for you alone to use and it can host a single website or numerous sites. Dedicated servers are good for experienced administrators but if you don't want the responsibility of maintaining it you should choose another option. Customer service is something you should think about when selecting a server hosting package. Find out if your Windows dedicated servers host offers 24/7 support over the phone for free. This is vital for business sites for instance, as if the site goes down you are potentially losing money until the site is up and running again. Also find out if the hosts you are considering have received generally positive customer feedback. You should be able to find feedback on online forums, blogs and the like. The space taken up on the internet by your site is known as bandwidth. If your site doesn't have a lot of traffic then you won't need a lot of bandwidth. If your website grows larger than the package's bandwidth can accommodate, the site will go down. You should investigate how much bandwidth will be supplied with a server hosting package and whether it will be affordable and easy to increase the bandwidth if you need to. A server hosting package may come with bonus features or services. These can include things like website design or logo creation. Bear in mind that the services or features may fall into categories that the server host is not very experienced with and they may therefore not be of a high standard. The features or services can however be good quality or the host can arrange a discount with a quality provider of these services or features. Getting these extra features or services through the host as opposed to another supplier can therefore at times save you money. Package price is an important consideration but it should not be the top consideration. The main deciding factors should be whether the package fulfils your requirements, is reliable and comes with excellent customer service. If you choose a cheaper package that provides poor customer service and/or doesn't meet your needs it is a frustrating experience. You will lose money if your business website stops functioning correctly because you don't have sufficient resources or the technical support to quickly get it up and running again. It is a good idea however to compare the prices of packages that meet all your requirements so that you can get the best deal on what you need.
