Through this system, business owners have the ability to receive payment from customers in a way that is much easier and faster. Credit card transactions offer consumers a way to make a transaction in a way that is safe and secure for everyone involved. With the use of a credit card, there is not as much risk for having to deal with issues like theft or scams. Additionally, customers enjoy the benefit of not having to carry around large amounts of cash for purchases. In the beginning, the whole process of using credit cards was fairly simple. There were not very many choices offered in the way of credit card purchasing. However, since then there have been several credit card companies that have become available to consumers. Now there are significantly more services that may come along with credit cards and the whole process has gotten much more complex. For this reason, there are many new systems that have been put in place to make credit card processing much more secure, safe and simple. The newer systems have enabled a great deal of businesses to offer their products for sale to consumers and get immediate payment through credit cards. The whole process is actually very simple to the customer. In the event that they want to purchase something from an establishment that accepts credit cards as a form of payment, all the customer has to do is swipe their card. This is done with a machine that has the ability to easily read the credit card information. At this point, the amount required for payment gets taken from the customer's account. In order to confirm the purchase, the customer has to give their signature on a credit card slip. It is a little more complicated on the other side of the transaction. Once the card is swiped, the machine will then start reading the language of the card. Then the information gets sent electronically to the credit card company, and there is an attached request for the authorization of the particular amount of money required to be taken from the account of the consumer. Then a link is established with the specific network and the request gets transferred to the issuer's network. Then once there has been verification of the customer's details and account number, there will be confirmation regarding whether or not there is enough money in the account to complete the transaction. The customer's account gets a hold placed on it for the exact amount required, and their available balance changes. Once the network has gotten approval, they send it to the terminal where the customer is attempting to make a purchase. Once the business day has ended, the merchant sends a message to the network to finally secure the funds for all of the transactions that have occurred throughout the day. This is not necessarily the full and complete details regarding credit card processing, as there are actually quite a few details and software applications involved, but this is a basic guideline.
