Choosing The Most Suitable Extra Large Dog Crate

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articleforbacklinks.com/rss.php?rss=145

An extra large dog crate is typically sized at 42 inches long and can suit many large breeds of dog like a German Shepherd, Labrador, Rottweiler or Golden Retriever that have a maximum weight of around 90 pounds. To ensure your dog will be comfortable in an extra large dog crate you should measure them to check they'll easily be able to turn around inside it. If they have too much space (or too little) then you may need to look at a different size of crate. Several of the more popular extra large dog crates are listed below.

1. Remington Wire Kennel

This extra large dog crate is relatively inexpensive given its simple wire construction and like all wire crates can make a great all-purpose crate - be it for toilet training a puppy (with the addition of a crate divider), traveling in the car or exhibiting at the dog show. It is relatively lightweight and easy to carry with its foldable design, but some owners note that this also makes it somewhat unsuitable for dogs who aren't already crate-trained as anxious dogs of a large size are quite likely to find a way to escape.

2. Petmate Vari Kennel Ultra Fashion

This is a plastic crate that comes in a range of sizes and stylish color choices that are a departure from the relatively plain nature most crates seem to have. It is a good choice for transporting your large dog by air as it meets USDA and IATA requirements thanks to features such as durable plastic, wire windows and a secure locking door.

3. Midwest Life Stages Folding Metal Crate

This is perhaps the most well-known of all wire crates and is somewhat more expensive than similar crates from other manufacturers. One of its most distinctive features is its included divider panel that allows you to change the size of the crate as your dog grows - hence the name. This makes it popular for people who want to buy one crate for their dog as a puppy to toilet train them, and also use the same crate once their dog is fully grown. It is highly recommended as a training crate, but with features like secure latches it can make a great option for car travel as well.

4. Mr. Herzher's Wicker Pet Residence

If you want an extra large dog crate with a bit more style about it, then this is one of the better choices. The problem with many dog crates, as you know, is they do not make a very attractive addition to the decor of your home - if your main goal is to find a crate for your dog to stay while inside the house then wooden crates or a wicker crate such as this make a good-looking solution. The main issue is that they are significantly more expensive than any other type of crate, and they are generally only designed for home use. If your dog isn't crate-trained or gets anxious when inside a crate then they may chew on it, so it isn't recommended in this case as the design isn't very durable. If you have a dog that is already crate-trained, however, and all you want is a great-looking extra large dog crate for them to stay in at home then this is the option for you.
