This is why it is so important that you put a lot of focus and prayer toward the Bible stories that you share with children. When it comes to kids, you have to keep everything upbeat and exciting. The worst thing you can do for the kids is bore them to the point where they no longer have an interest in God's word. This is a topic that is very exciting and thrilling when it is translated in the right way. When you are reading these stories to kids, avoid being monotone with the way you speak. Show excitement on your face, and use different tones of voice when you are reading. Make eye contact with the kids frequently throughout the stories as well. Remember too that if you do not seem to be enjoying yourself, they are not going to be likely to enjoy themselves either. Make sure that you always use visual aids for your lessons. If you add visual stimulation to the Bible stories you can actually bring them to life before their eyes! They will find the stories to be much easier to absorb and remember that way as well. Try to present the stories in such a way that they become relevant to the world that the children live in every day. Of course, you will have to stay current with what kids are into these days. Knowing what interests the kids the most will help you tap into their world, and you will have a much easier time grabbing and keeping their attention once you start relating the stories to their everyday lives. Especially when it comes to younger children, you have to read the stories in such a way that the kids will continue to pay attention. Take on different characters with your voice and change into different tones often. Don't just sit there while you are reading the stories either. Move around according to the story. Stoop down, crawl, run or act out whatever is happening at the moment in the story. You can also make things more interesting by using props such as puppets, toys or any other item that the story relates to. Be dramatic about the story. You don't have to be the only one acting it out either, as it would be fun for the kids to each have a part that they act out as well! You could create a little play that tells the story and let each member of the class have a part in it! You can also put the kids up to the task of holding up signs and props to tell the story. Kids love it when you give them a job to do, because it makes them feel important and grown up. There is no reason why Bible stories should be boring to kids, so do what you can to keep the excitement going and keep them interested in the Word of God.
