A Walk Through On How To Setup And Run Clan Servers On A Linux Virtual Server

If you're an online gamer, you know that some games in particular require a particular operating system server on a UK VPS host. This facilitates online gaming in its most real sense—players can compete with actual people as long as they're all online. So there is the decision making of which server to have the game hosted.

Despite the fact that installing Linux requires some technical know-how, the benefits are well worth it as it's considered one of the most efficient OS out there. Linux virtual servers are lauded for their high performance. It is able to handle upwards of up to 100,000 connections simultaneously. Game servers hosted on Linux virtual server hosting are actually well equipped even if said game has been designed for a different OS. You need to remember a couple of points when you use Linux virtual server hosting for a game. The game should be able to run from a Linux vps host and be readily available for use from a different game user from the set network.

The following are steps in setting up a Linux VPS platform for a game. Before anything else, you must first use the command "gunzip goserver.tar.gz" in order to restore the goserver package. If done properly, the server should be able to make an automatic goserver directory. Said directory will contain all the necessary files. By entering the command "tar xvf goserver.tar", you can create said directory. Once the goserver directory has been created, it will have five sub directories. These directories are installation, monitor, globalops, lib, and bin.

The next step will be to use the sub directory known as the bin which will have a server executable file known as the goserver.elf and also a server profile known as the server.prf.

If you go to lib/Linux release, you'll find that it contains three dynamic libraries. Under the globalops subdirectory, there will be a resource file which will be really necessary for the running g of the goserver. Once you open the installation subdirectory you will find the guide to set up. Remote monitors, which can be used to run under Windows or Linux VPS, are found in the monitor subdirectory.

You should place the executable file in bin to the server profile. You also need to put the dynamic libraries from the lib subdirectory to the system path. Then the process of setting up the Linux should be almost done by now as it will be required to bind the Linux server to a specific ip address. The process that would be remaining is to configure the game intended to be installed on to the Linux server.
