Are you looking for the best chromatography equipment? First of all, what is chromatography anyway?

In Greek it means "color writing". It mainly involves two stages 1. Stationary phase and 2. Mobile phase for the separation of the mixture.

The mixture is entered in to the chromatography process and each separate part is flushed out at different stages applying the needed process for each one and applying the right equipment to do it.

There are several different types of chromatography equipment used throughout this process.

The Column There are various chromatography techniques, such as paper or thin layer techniques. However, modern chromatography mostly uses a column. It is basically a glass or metal tube in which the actual separation takes place. It should strong enough that it can take out the pressure that gets applied at each stage. It is used in the stationary phase. The column can be either a packed bed column or an open tubular column.

1. Packed bed Packed bed is a hollow tube or a vessel that is to be filled with the material or the mixture. It is used to improve and make the connection between two phases. It can be used in stripping, absorption or distillation. The column can be filled with structured packing or randomly dumped packing. Liquid makes the wet surface and a vapor goes through this wet surface and the transfer takes place.

2. Open Tubular Column This is the column that has a very small diameter in which the inner tube wall or liquid will work as a stationary phase and the open path can take care of the mobile phase. It can be of two types:

• Wall coated open tubular column and/or WCOT column - which is preferred more • Porous layer open tube, or PLOT column.

The mobile and stationary phase The mobile phase is comprised with the injection of the sample, which is the solvent. Then the solvent flows through the column together. The stationary phase is the actual mixture in the column for which we are doing the separation. Depending on the type of mixture, the phases can also vary, and the time and length also may change. The type of process that we can apply is as follows:

1. Gas chromatography Gas chromatography is also known as Gas Liquid chromatography, and is a separation technique. It is carried through column and packed into it.

2. Liquid chromatography This is used to separate the mixture and in the process of partitioning the modules that are dissolved in a solvent. In this stage, the mobile phase is liquid. It uses small particle packaging and is kept in high pressure. It consists of a column with a fritted bottom that holds a stationary phase. A sample mixture passes through at a different rate and partitions it between the stationary phase and mobile phase.

There are various techniques used in chromatography for separation: • Reversed-phase chromatography • Two-dimensional chromatography • Simulated moving-bed chromatography • Pyrolysis gas chromatography • Fast protein liquid chromatography • Countercurrent chromatography • Chiral chromatography

It will be necessary to identify the proper Chromatography equipment for the various phases.
