In most people's excitement over getting a wind turbine up and running and taking advantage of all the free energy blowing around their houses, they overlook the essential step of first assessing the wind on their property to see what they have to work with. It is very critical to take some time upfront and learn where the optimal place for a turbine will be on your property. You also need to make sure there are no deal breakers looming out there with your local municipal government. In many cases, there are permitting and zoning ordinances that may require you to locate your turbine in a less than optimal place.
