Building your own wind turbine is an accomplishment that you can be very proud of that will pay off for years to come. But, what is the cheapest way to get going? Now that you have plans and parts, now it is time to sort them out and begin work. To do the work you will need a large area with the proper tools to do the assembly. If you are doing all the work yourself except manufacturing the blades themselves, then you can get away without having to have any expensive special tools or special knowhow. It is also wise to think about where this thing is going to finally end up. Since finished windmills can weigh quite a lot - (over 200 lbs) - you definitely don't want to have to lift and transport it very far. The cheapest way to have a home windmill is to do it on your own from scratch. This can be a fun project and a way to start making power for free!
