If you want to buy wind generators, you must take care of a few housekeeping items first. You will really benefit by doing some upfront analysis before you begin with any wind turbine project. Specifically, you need take care of three items before you begin: 1. The very first thing you need to do is take a look at specific wind on your land. You need to understand how it flows. You need to also understand that average speed and any seasonality you can expect. The first step in this analysis is to look at a broad overview of wind resources in your state. The way to do that is to go to your government wind resources math or a source like WeatherUnderground.com. That will give you broad information for your state. But that's not all you need to do. You need to take the time to check out the wind resources on your specific piece of land. The way to do that is with an anemometer. An anemometer is small device that will allow you to record wind speed and direction at specific points that you might install wind turbine. The only cost is about $50 at Amazon and can be connected to your computer so you can later download and manipulate the information you gather. 2. The second thing you do is check out your local community and see if there's any resistance to putting up a wind turbine. You may say, "But this is my house I can put anything I want up there. Right?" Unfortunately, this is incorrect. Many communities have a real bias against wind turbines and you need to find out exactly what that bias might be in your case. The way to find that out is just call your local municipal government and asking for any permits required and what the limitations are on the wind turbine that you install. 3. The last thing you need to do is understand exactly how you want to install the wind turbine device on your property. By that I mean how much of the work you actually want to do yourself versus letting others do. There are a lot of different ways you can handle this. You can buy a set of diagrams off the Internet and do all the work yourself, or simply buy parts local hardware store. The other option is to let a dealer do all the work for you and just buy the wind turbine already manufactured and ready to go. The real key to all this is to understand the quicker you can get up and running the better. It is important to make sure too that you take all these key points in to consideration but in the final analysis, with wind generators, it's best to get going quickly so you can start making free energy from the wind that's all around your house.
