For people who are very interested in going into health care need to realize that there is more than one profession in each department. You might have to go to school for only two years and if you want to advance by continuing medical education, then you can get certifications by only going to school for one year for each profession.

Some schools may make it easier on you by suggesting you do that. If you want to be a doctor, then you have four years at a university and then you have to go for another four years at another school where there are only people studying to be doctors. You can also advance to be a doctor because you can be in management of any of the hospitals you would like to work at. You may have to go to school for another two or four years if you decide to do that.

Nursing is about the same thing as a doctor except the amount of schooling may be shorter than if you were to go to school to be a doctor. A lot of people that already work in the health care field as a medical assistant choose to advance their degree to nursing whether it is because they make more money or because they have more responsibilities.

If you are looking to go for x-ray, they may have more opportunities than anyone in the entire profession because the opportunities are endless. You could be an x-ray technician, a radiologic technologist, you could work in fluoroscopy, you could do PET scanning, you could also work in mammography, and the list of opportunities grows.

The people that work in the front desk may only have a two or four year college degree but the opportunities are endless for them as well because they have the whole hospital at their fingertips. They could go for x-ray, nursing, they could be a doctor, or any other profession that has a place working in a hospital.

People who are interested in becoming physical therapists are also needed in the hospital to work with people who need to work on a certain part of their body that may have been paralyzed or elderly people that go to a nursing people need a physical therapist to help them move around more.

Surgical techs are people that help the surgeons and would also be able to advance to be an actual person who would get paid more than the surgical techs. Some of these people may want to be doctors as well, so they can be as high up as they can go and may make even more money than surgeons do.

When you are deciding whether or not you want to begin continuing medical education, you want to think about the endless possibilities you would have and how much more money you could make doing what you are doing except you would be advancing in your same degree program. Plus you would also be expanding your knowledge on what you already know about your current degree program that you are in or that you want to be in.
