This is because of following facts: - You will never want to spend again and again on your bike for mountain biking and, - You will never want a bike which will take out the interest of biking from you. Rather, you will be looking for some bike which will elevate your biking interest many folds. It is because of this reason, you will have to make a correct decision based on several questions and facts that you can gather! Here are some of the most important factors which you will need to consider before you actually end up buying a bike because, if your don't, you will end up spending money for something which is not worth it! - The first thing that you need to consider is the biking experience you have, especially on the rough terrains like the mountainous roads, which are generally muddy, rocky, rugged and narrow. If you are not really experienced with these terrains and you are just a first time biker on such roads, your choice will be different compared to the experienced bikers. - The next most important thing is your height and your age. Guess what? If you end up buying a bike which is not proportionate to body, you are in real trouble! - The next thing that you need to know is that are you going to use the bike for mountain biking or are you going to use it for on-road biking of you just want to use it for commuting from one country to the other. (Wow! That was way too much for your expectation I know but, believe me, it is true! This happens!) - Are you going to ride downhill or are you going to use the bike for aerial trick or jumping from one place to the other? You need to remember that these are really very important factors which you need to consider if you really want to get hold of a good mountain bike. This is because of the fact that, these factors determine the configuration of the bike that you are going to buy. The type of frame use, the geometry of the body, type of gears used, the traction of the bike, the road grip of the tires, the flexibility of the steering handles, road clearance of the pedals, the extent of kickback of the pedals are some of the major configuration changes which are taken into consideration by the manufactures of the bikes for manufacturing different bikes suitable for different terrains. For instance, the mountain bikes will have better road grip, low center of gravity, both front and real wheel suspensions and brakes, multi-speed gears and tough frames which can take care of the bumps and vibrations of the roads. On the other hand, road bikes will never have dual wheel suspension or multi-speed gears or perhaps, they will not have brakes on both wheels! Even, their body frame will be made of different material (aluminum) than the mountain bikes which generally have chrome made frames. So, when you are buying a mountain bike, ask yourself the questions asked above or evaluate your requirements based on the facts mentioned above to ensure that you are making the right choice!
