Exactly Why Battery Power Know-how Is Vital For Renewable Power To Function

By : Roger Brown

Certainly, we are ALL looking more and more to alternate energy sources like wind turbine kits for our power requirements. We all know there is a short fuse on fossil fuels. Whether we run out in our generation, or sometime in the next 2 or 3, is hardly the point.

Our main concern should be the transition to alternative energy and making it an easy one. By that, I mean the transition from what we burn now to make power to what we will at some point in the future. It could well be that it turns out to be a multitude of things we burn, but whether we glide in for a nice 3-point landing or crash, is totally up to us.

When it comes to the viability of renewable energy sources, batteries and the state of advanced battery technology will be the key. That is because the energy that we create from ANY source either needs to be used now, or stored for use later in some media that doesn't degrade so fast.

Natural gas can be stored underground and the losses over time are negligible. We need a battery storage system for power that emulates the way natural gas is stored.

While we technically already have the battery technology now to store the energy we make, it is not compact enough to be very practical. It takes a massive amount of battery area to store enough power to handle a home powered by wind turbine kits, for example.

Also, batteries now lose their charge too quickly. This is a real problem and considerable research scientific attention is being paid to working it out. Making batteries smaller and last longer is the key to slowing down our energy depletion rate as a nation.

There is a lot of R&D work going on in the area of miniaturizing battery power. As we progress along this timeline and make more and more locations suitable for battery storage, our ability to utilize electricity from the wind will soar.

If you are looking into wind turbine kits to power individual appliances or maybe even your entire home, this is a very important concept to pay attention to. Your wind and solar systems will be stronger at some times than others and you need to have the best available power storage system to make the most of your renewable energy project.

If we are going to realistically use green renewable energy to power our world in the near term, we must have a way to store the electricity we make on the days when the wind isn't blowing. So, pay close attention to developments in battery technology. That will give us all a heads up on when renewable energy will really come into its own.
