We must identify 1st that each one of our energy originally was produced from the sun's rays. Even the classic fuels that people today burn to form the energy were created from the breaking down of dead carbon life forms. That decomposition would not have been possible without the sun to warm the world and its atmosphere. Consequently, how about wind? Exactly where does it come from? Wind certainly is the by-product of the irregular heating and dissipating of the earth and its various surface components, plus by Coriolis Effect. You can't really have the wind devoid of the sun. They can be as inextricably linked as the chicken and the egg. Here is how it goes…the sun heats the surface of the planet as the day passes on and throughout the day, the rocks, ground, houses, or anything else. radiate that warmth back into the atmosphere. The uneven warming is why. Rocks soak up and release the warmth at a completely different rate than do ponds, for example. That difference causes the air currents to rise at diverse rates of speed during the course of the afternoon. Also, Coriolis Effect has a bearing on wind patterns depending on what latitude you're in. For example, hurricanes are extremely influenced by the Coriolis Effect. There are virtually no hurricanes within five lines of latitude of the equator. This is because this force is not really experienced there. If you are planning a renewable energy project like making power from wind turbine kits, to make power for your home, then this is an important concept to understand. The concept of Roof Effect that super-charges the power of the wind on your roof is a clear example of how this all works. Bottom line, all the energy on the planet and everything that we incinerate to make our power comes originally from the sun. So, solar and wind energy are really very close to being the same phenomenon manifested in a different spectrum. If you understand the sun as the source of all energy then you're pretty close to grasping the entire concept of where our energy comes from. When we convert wind energy and make electricity, (with wind turbine kits, for example), we are simply releasing the energy that the sun has deposited on our planet over the eons.
