This means you have to not only check out a national wind map, but also you need to take data on the wind on your particular piece of property. You can do that with an anemometer. An anemometer is just a small device that will record the wind speed and direction wherever you put it. You leave it in a location for several weeks and take it down, then plugging it into your personal computer. You download the data and then you can use that information to qualify the location is a potential place to locate your wind device. Pick out where EXACTLY you will install it. To get your arms around this, you need to pick out several locations that might work. Usually, a roof can be a good option. But also, you can install a turbine on top of a tower in the middle of your backyard if the neighborhood will allow you to. That's really where the best wind is.
