Whether the national consciousness has reached this conclusion or not yet, we are running out of carbon-based fuel. By adding wind turbine kits at home, you can make your own personal stab at minimizing the impact this will have on your life. Fossil fuels are a finite product and we have been burning it aggressively for most of the past century. What have we been thinking? To sketch things out, the base problem is really 2-fold: 1. There is only so much fossil fuel on the planet - the hint is in the name "fossil" fuel. We aren't making fossils fast enough to quell the tide of their consumption. Emerging countries want to westernize their societies and that takes fuel. 2. The fuel that we are burning is putting carbon into the atmosphere at too great a rate for the planet to reabsorb it. Normally, the carbon cycle takes care of any excess carbon in the atmosphere. However, we are putting too much carbon in the atmosphere for it to absorb it at its normal rate. What is the solution? While we can slow down the rate of depletion, we can't create more fossil fuel. It is running out and there's nothing we can do about that. But, slow it down, we must. By buying wind turbine kits and other renewable energy sources to power or partially power our homes, we are helping to slow down the "burn rate" and giving ourselves a measure of independence from the process as well. Why turbine kits? By using wind turbine kits at home, we are at least partially cutting the tether that binds us to our local utilities and the fossil fuels they mostly make power from. These devices have several inherent advantages over other renewable systems: The parts are all in one place and the assembly is easy to accomplish - this is probably the biggest advantage of buying any device like this in kit form. You've got one company to go back to if there is a problem. Also, all of the parts are in one place and designed to fit together and form your wind device. If you operate from a set of plans you will certainly spend a lot less money, but you will end up spending a lot more time building what the plans specify. By getting a kit, you cut way down on your cost to implement your renewable energy solution - also, the cost to implement a wind mill kit is way less than if you purchase a similar device through a dealer. The reason for that is you are supplying the effort that the manufacturer would normally get compensated for. By purchasing wind turbine kits at home, we are becoming less dependent on the large companies and the flakey governments that control the fossil fuel issue now.
