Wind turbine kits are an excellent way to cut costs and start making power from your wind at home. The great thing about them is they do their work passively and silently while you go about other aspects of your life, requiring little input from you after their initial set up. The big question always is though - where should you put them up? The wind moves at different speeds and different levels of randomness at various points around your property. The success that you have with your wind device in terms of electricity production will largely depend on how well you are able to assess the best location and install your turbine there. As it turns out, there are several good options: * Your roof - the roof can be a rich source of wind energy. You just need to check out various locations there because all are not equally rich. Roof Effect means that the wind on your roof will accelerate along the contour of the surface. The best way to tell exactly where the best place on your roof is to install a turbine is to measure it with an anemometer. * On a tower - the wind is always strongest up higher. Mounting your wind turbine up on a tower will allow you to be in the strongest stream of wind around your property. Above the tree line is where the wind blows in a steady stream, without the interference of the trees and buildings. By mounting on a tower you can make the most power. You may be constrained by local ordinance where you can and cannot put wind devices. So, it is best to check that out first, before you spend much time on the project. Make sure that where you want to put the turbine on your property will not be prohibited by permitting limits. The way to find that out is to call your local government and ask. They will be able to let you know if there any restrictions regarding the new wind device you'd like to install. With wind turbine kits, you can save a lot of money, but you need to first analyze what your options are and where is best to install them. As we've said, there are only a few locations, but you need to analyze those carefully in order to pick just the right spot and make the most electricity that you can.
