With wind turbine kits there are a couple more ways to get them wrong than get them right. You have to be very careful on the front end or you could be totally wasting your time. If you don't take time to really understand if this is a good deal for you specifically, you could end up blowing a lot of money. It is better to take the time up front and see if the wind device is in your future before you jump in the middle of the stream and find out is too deep. Here are the 3 ways to make sure wind turbine kits are done right: 1. Survey the wind on your property or at your home - the first thing you need to do with any home project is understand what you're working with. Wind turbine kits require that you first take a survey of what the wind is like on various parts of your property where you might install a wind device. Your roof is certainly one place to look at, but there are others. You may consider mounting the wind turbine mounted on a tower to take advantage of the best wind, or you may want to go the easy route, start small, and just mount the wind turbine on something low to the ground. It all depends on the type of wind you have and how strong it is. The only way to really get a grasp on that is to him use an anemometer and assess the wind in certain locations for a few weeks. 2. Look into local rules that may limit you - sometimes government gets involved in your private affairs. There are many rules that pertain to installing wind turbines on personal property that you need to know about. Sometimes these rules come in the form of setbacks from your neighbors' property line and other times they involve height restrictions. If you live in an urban setting they may even involve the distance that you must have your wind device set from the edge of your roof. 3. Study and plan exactly how you will execute your plan before you buy anything - although you have terrific motivation to get going and start making power at home, it is best to plan out the entire endeavor before you even place the order for the wind device. The reason for that is once you have set the wind turbine place it's difficult to move it. These devices are not light - on the order of 200 pounds - so you will need to make sure you get it right the first time. Finally, use wind turbine kits aggressively and you will dramatically drop your energy bill.
