Helpful Tips To Consider When Buying An Air Conditioning Unit

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articleforbacklinks.com/rss.php?rss=92

Air conditioning is usually the answer to the sweltering summer heart of summer. Not only are they installed for comfort but for health reasons as well. Many of the elderly are prone to heat stroke so sometimes it is wise to install a unit before summer. If you are decided on buying a unit, then read on for some tips on what to do to help you in your decision.

One can either buy a second hand unit or a new one depending on their overall budget. Should you buy a second hand unit, do get one that is not more than three years old, as most unit warranties are still within that time frame. Whether or not you buy a new one or not, the most important thing to look for is the energy rating of the unit you purchase.

Most if not all modern appliances come with a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio that helps a consumer buy a more energy efficient unit. When you go to a store it is usually listed on the yellow tag attached to the appliance. The higher the rating it has the more energy efficient it will be. New units usually have an average rating of around 12 while older ones have ratings of 7. Get the higher rated appliance always.

Gauge the amount of living space that needs to be cooled also. There will be a big difference if you are just cooling a small area as against the whole house. A bigger area will mean a bigger air conditioner will have to be installed and vice versa. Also larger units may entail some modifications in your home to fit in properly.

What is important in getting a new appliance into your new home is safety. New appliances introduced into the home will put additional load and stress on your current electrical capacity. Make sure that there is an upgrade on your current breaker or you may have a fire hazard on your hands. Always use as a rule of thumb to have a separate breaker for every additional air conditioner.

Likewise be a smart and responsible consumer also. Buy a brand that produces environmental friendly units that do not use chlorofluorocarbons which will affect the ozone layer. In fact, all of your major appliance decisions should factor in environmental friendliness.

Also see if maintaining the unit is feasible in terms of your budget. If it is not financially sustainable to do so in the long run then you may have to go with a cheaper alternative. Install it because you need it and can afford it and not because you want to keep up with the Joneses.

The factors listed above can be taken as major considerations in your decision. Taking these into account should make your purchase conscience free and a lot easier to decide upon. When all is said and done however, the final decision is always yours to purchase or not so it is still up to you to take that final step.
