The development and ever expansion of broadband technologies has made our lives meaningful. Broadband growth should be embraced since it is a confirmation on how technology is advancing. The way you access the internet using a broadband connection can give you advantages on each kind of broadband.

For now, we are going to evaluate some of the broadband technologies we have. Broadband technologies comes in different types for example broadband via wire cable, Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), satellite and wireless. We are going to begin by explaining about optic fibre broadband and associate it with FTTC.

Fibre Broadband is one of new broadband which is deployed in UK. Fibre broadband is termed as super-fast broadband all over the world. To enhance the speed of broadband connection many operators are using fibre optic broadband. The fibre broadband is available for both home and business users. Speed is what makes the fibre broadband important.

It has become easier and faster to browse and search through the internet at a speed of up to 40Mbps courtesy of fibre broadband. It sounds good but not all people get the experience of fibre broadband to the fullest, your speed of the internet is affected by the length of your phone line to the cabinet.

There are two types of Fibre Broadband. That is FTTC broadband (Fibre To The Cabinet) broadband and Fibre To The Home (FTTH or FTTP).

In FTTC broadband fibre optic cable is deployed in connecting your local telephone to the nearest street side cabinet. VDSL2 and DSLAM capable are installed in new cabinet and you phone line will be connected. So that, the speed your broadband will be much higher than the others.

Your FTTC broadband will work efficiently if you connect a gadget that supports PPPoE. If you already have an ADSL router with a built in ADSL modem, it won't work with the FTTC's service, as the result, you need to get a new router. Using computer connection alone, only needs a connection of BT provide and make a PPPoE network connection for use. The speed provided ranges from 2Mbps and 10 Mbps. BT Openreach will give you guarantee the minimum speed will be 15Mbps in the future. Those who own fibre broadband at home can now be able to check their broadband speed using the broadband speed checker.

If you have a fibre broadband it is recommended that you also get to know its short comings. A sound network is the only main problem associated with fibre broadband there for there is need to build a fibre-optic network, to construct this will cost you a few pennies, if you don't have UTP then consider laying new cables. You will enjoy using optical fibre broadband. Optical fibre broadband cannot be compared with other broadband such as the wireless internet.

The wireless internet's defect is that you must have outdoor antena, the constructing process is difficult, the wireless internet is sensitive to the weather and climate condition, and also susceptive to the other radio frequency interference.
