Fashion Experts Love Hair Feathers

The newest craze in fashion happens to be hair feathers. Cher wore a few feathers in her hair some years back, but the new hairstyle did not enter mainstream fashion until this year. Feather hair extensions caught on when stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Miley Cyrus and rocker Steven Tyler were seen with them. I believe the craze rose to a new level with Steven Tyler\'s regular appearance on American Idol, with rooster feathers weaved into his long, brown hair.

What types of hair feathers are fashionable people wearing? The most popular feathers come from a roosters back, and have been used as lures for fly-fishing for years. This specific breed of rooster has very long, beautiful plumes on its back, which is called a saddle. The feathers are anywhere from three inches to 16 inches in length with a flexible center shaft. A rooster saddle can hold as much as 500 feathers of various lengths; however, the long, thin feathers that span the rooster\'s neck to the end of its tail are the most sought after hair feathers. Other feathers that are fashionable today are peacock feathers, having beautiful shades of blue and green.

Are the colors of hair feathers real? Dyes are used on many of the feathers to bring about a wide spectrum of colors to choose from. Hairstylists report that women who are younger usually pick bright colors, while mature women prefer subdued tones. The popular white with black stripes feather is referred to as grizzly. An abundance of colors, lengths, and styles are available to view and/or purchase online.

What method is used to attach hair feathers? Hair feathers can be attached using weave beads, and the beads are bonded, or clamped to one or more strands of your hair. Style experts say to treat the feather extension as you would treat your hair. Another words, it should be washed, conditioned, and brushed. You can curl it, straighten it, or even blow dry it, and it will last for up to 8 weeks. You can place the extension yourself, or have a stylist place it for you. You can have 1 or 2 feathers weaved into to your hair, or as many as 3 or 4 clamped in a bundle. Take a look online for all the lengths, widths, and colors that are on the market.

What is the cost of hair feathers? Prices of hair feathers are as numerous as the colors and styles. Prices can be as low as $3, but it depends on style, length, and color. Do a little shopping online to get an idea of what is out there, and find the look that is right for the fashion expert that you see in the mirror.
