In case you haven\'t noticed, there is a new rage in hair styling called hair feathers. Teen girls, young women, and even some mature women and men have taken up the style of placing rooster feathers in their hair. No one is sure exactly who started this latest fashion trend, but names like Kesha and Steven Tyler have been mentioned.
The most popular hair feathers are the Whiting Saddle Grizzly Rooster. Hold on, I will break most of that down for you if you are not familiar with the craze. "Whiting" Colorado is where that particular rooster is bred and raised. The "saddle" is what the back of the rooster is called, and where the prized feathers are located. "Grizzly Rooster" is a guess on my part, but maybe the name of the breed of the rooster, like a "Rhode Island Red". Anyway, the young women that are wearing them do not care where the name came from; they just want to know where to buy the long striped hair feathers. Peacock feathers are also popular.
Hair feathers are kind of like coloring your hair. Hair feathers add a splash of color to your hair similar to streaking, without actually coloring your hair. There are different colors available to suit anyone\'s taste in fashion. They range from vibrant reds, greens and blues, and every color in between, to more subtle earth hues. Is having a hair feather put in a big deal? No, it is like brushing your teeth, unless you consider brushing your teeth a big deal. It takes about ten minutes to put one in, using beads attached to the feather, then clamping that to a strand or two of your hair, simple.
How about this for a fashion craze? Some folks are having hair feathers placed on the manes of their horses, and on the heads of their dogs. Of course, our border collie Sable, would not put up with a feather attached to her head. She has never been into fashion.
