Dysport is another form of botulinum toxin. It is known to relax the muscles which are overactive so that the aesthetics of the face can be changed. This makes it similar to the Botox but they are not the same. There is a considerable difference between Botox and Dysport in terms of relative strength. These two toxins must be administered with different dosage. Dysport is known to diffuse more compared to Botox and hence, if Dysport is applied in a given section of a face, its effect will be greater than that of Botox! This never means that Dysport is better than or worse than Botox. It actually implies that the two toxins have different application. There is no evidence of whether Dysport lasts longer than Botox or not. However, medical examinations show that the Dysport is known to act faster than Botox.

So, what is Dysport? By now you must be aware of the fact that it is a neurotoxin which is produced by Clostridium botulinum. Just like the Botox, it is also injected in the skin. The good thing about Dysport is that it starts showing its impact in 1 to 2 days while Botox takes longer and it requires 3 to 5 days to show impact. It is also often said that the Dysport performs for a longer period of time. It is because of this, many people who want to look younger and want to have fast results go for Dysport irrespective of what they need to spend. Dysport is relatively younger to Botox as it was found only in 2009. This new neurotoxin is yet to be approved by the FDA for its health related applications. Now that we know the application and benefits of the neurotoxin called Dysport, it is time that we take a quick look at the possible side effects of the same.

The major side effects of Dysport are mentioned below:

- It is very common to find bruising at the site of the injection. This side effect of Dysport injection is same as the side effect of Botox injection.

- Apart from bruising of the site of Dysport injection, the area may become numb and it can also lead to swelling and tingling of the area.

- Scientific studies reveal that Dysport may be responsible for forming more antibodies compared to Botox. This is definitely not a good sign. It is not that the formation of antibodies is going to harm you but they will actually be formed to fight the neurotoxin and it is because of this reason, the toxin may stop working in a fashion it is supposed to work.

Though because of its ability to generate faster results, the toxin is a widely preferred option for many people who want to look young but again, because of the body's ability to form more antibodies compared to Botox administration, Dysport is now moving to the rear end of the stage. Whatever you choose must be guided by expert advice from the professionals.
