Water damage is one of the worst things that can happen. The structure of the building can be harmed and the objects in the house can be damaged too. Apart from this, there can he health hazards which can call for immediate medical attention and if that happens, it will cost a lot because medical expenses can be extremely high. It is because of this, water damage must be dealt with immediate care. No matter what, there are some do's and don'ts of water damage clean up that you will have to follow. Let us take a look at them.

Do's:

Call for immediate help from the professionals. These professionals actually work for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week and hence, if you have any situation of water damage, call them no matter what time it is. They will be there for helping you.

Isolate the affected area from the rest of the house and you can do this after you have called for the professional services. The best thing to do is to avoid moving in and out of the room which has been affected and stop your children from entering the room.

If it is not rainwater or flood water that caused the trouble then it must be the water source which feeds your house with water. Find the valve which is located outside of the house and shut down the valve.

Wait until the professionals appear and do not make any attempts to clean the mess on your own. The professionals will reach your place generally within an hour.

Don'ts:

Never use any electrical appliances when there is any kind of water damage including stagnant water in rooms or basement. This is because of the fact that water and electricity forms a deadly combination and any mistakes can cost lives. Do not do that! Better turn off the main electricity supply of your house until the water damage clean up service is completed.

Never leave the wooden furniture together with the wet carpets because the carpets can get stained by the wooden furniture. Better remove the furniture or make use of some kind of plastic separator so that the carpets are not stained. If you can better remove the furniture because of the fact that water can damage the wooden products.

Never ever walk into other rooms after you enter the affected area. If you do so, you will be carrying harmful microbes like bacteria, virus, molds etc to the other rooms and make those rooms unhealthy for living.

Never try to clean water and dry up the area using hairdryers or dry/wet vacuums if the water leakage is not from the leaked faucets or overflowing sink. By doing so, you will actually increase mildew in the room which will become the breeding ground for harmful microbes. Let the professionals do their job so that you can enjoy a cleaner and healthier living condition for yourself and your loved ones.
