The Rottweiler officially came into existence during the Middle Ages in Germany, and they were first bred for the main intention of guarding cattle and protecting butchers' money pouches. A small number of their more distinguishing traits are seen as their muscular and powerful physicality as well as an intolerance to strangers they sense have ill intentions - which assist in making the Rottweiler a popular dog breed for a guard dog to protect the home and family, police and security work, herding, guide dogs for the blind or as search and rescue dogs. The Rottweiler is legendary for their alert and imposing nature. They are often slow to form friendships with unfamiliar people, which often makes them highly suitable as a guard dog. The Rottweiler is also known to be highly intelligent - placing 9th in comparison with other dogs based on their capability to be trained obedience directives. Grooming the Rottweiler is a reasonably easy mission. They need a small level of brushing and bathing only when it's necessary and proper grooming every 8 to 10 weeks to maintain a strong and clean-looking outline. The Rottweiler can be kept happy with a small yard given they aren't very active when inside the home, so they can be suitable for apartment life if they are given daily exercise. They enjoy cooler environments and are known to overheat easily if it gets too hot. The Rottweiler takes pleasure in leisure activities including being given a job to do, exploring the woods, swimming and chasing after balls. They possess a medium degree of energy and require exercise every day in the shape of long walks or runs alongside your bicycle to inhibit excessive weight gain. The Rottweiler can make the perfect dog for a confident owner who is strong enough to provide leadership and consistent discipline. Though they may be a little inappropriate with less confident owners and those who are not going to provide adequate training, if you are able to act as a responsible owner and pack leader to them then the Rottweiler may well make the perfect dog for you.
