This is inevitably achieved through the best possible grip and some practice techniques. These practice techniques include playing rudiments, moeller method, setting up drums and practicing with weights. It can be very boring for a drummer to practice on these techniques but the end results are worth it. The essential pattern that every drummer learns is known as rudiments. Practice these rudiments with a metronome and a practice pad. You need to play these rudiments as fast as possible. Try to increase your beats per minutes speed each time. You need to practice paradiddle for control and also single and double stroke roll for power and speed. Moeller method is another very popular way of drumming that is used by all the top professional drummers. This technique is named after its inventor. In this technique, a multi stroke hit is carried out by utilizing the bounce of stick. This allows you to get double the bounces by playing half of the strokes. This method is used in jazz, rock, latin and more. Make use of heavier and bigger sticks to play the drums. This will help you to learn how to play drums faster when you move back to your lighter drums. It can be a dangerous technique if you play a lot with it. This may affect your timing and flow with the rest of the band. You should also know how to properly grip your drumstick. This is one of the key concepts in drumming. If you do not grip it rightly, it could restrict your performance with the drums and could damage your hands and wrists. There are three popular grips and it is up to you to decide your comfort with these grips. A matched grip is achieved by making a fist with three fingers of the left hand and extending its index finger and thumb just like a gun. Bend the wrist towards your right hand. Rotate the wrist forward so that your thumb is parallel with the thing that you are practicing on. Place the drumstick on your index finger's last joint. The position that best balances is your fulcrum point on the drumstick. Apply pressure on the drumstick with the thumb. Add the other three fingers with pads on them. A traditional grip is slightly different from matched grip. A gun with hands is made but two fingers and a thumb extend out and two fingers fold. Put the drumstick on top of folded fingers and the stick should come through the "V" of your thumb and extended fingers. Close the grip by placing index and middle finger on top of drumstick. In order to learn how to play the drums faster, it is extremely important to set up your drum kit in the right place. A lot of drummers don't take much time in setting up their drums because they do not consider it essential. You should feel comfortable with the position of your drums so that you do not have to move around a lot. They should neither be too close nor too far from each other. If they are too close then they will reduce your arm flex. If they are too far then you are required to cover some distance to move around.
