Just What Are The 2 Most Difficult Steps Whenever You Build Your Own Wind Turbines?

Depending on how much of the work you yourself would like to do, if you want to build your own wind turbines, you have substantial work ahead of you to get the project actually completed.

Many people start these wind generation building projects with all the right intentions, but don\'t really know what they are getting into.

These are the 2 hard steps of the project that must be done and you need to think through before you begin:

1. Be specific about what you want to accomplish with the wind energy you translate into electricity. That way, you can accurately size the equipment you want to buy to build your own wind turbines. The easiest way to get your arms around this is to get a pencil and piece of paper and map out all the energy consuming appliances around your property that you could conceivably power with a small set of batteries charged by wind turbine. Many people use the batteries as backup in case of power outage. Also, wind generator charged batteries can be used to directly drive a pump that runs intermittently. If you want to go all the way, the option exists of exporting the power you make directly to the electricity grid. This is an order of magnitude more difficult because you have to buy a grid tie inverter and get your utility involved. You\'ll also have to have the services of a professional contractor that interacts with the utility on a regular basis. That step, of course, can run in some substantial money. But you will be able to more quickly monetize your investment by selling the power back to your power provider.

2. How much time do you have to do this project on your own? This is a question you must really ponder. It is very alluring to think you can save lots and lots of money by purchasing an inexpensive set of plans and doing the work of building your turbine yourself. That takes a lot of time though and it also takes the confidence from having successfully done projects like this in the past. If you have got the time and the patience, you can save an awful lot of money by doing it yourself. But, it is wise to be realistic, because your main objective is to get the wind turbine up and running and producing power that you can use.

By considering these things on the front end, you will have the best initial foray into renewable energy. To build your own wind turbines is a very doable thing for most average do-it-yourselfers.
