Could A Heart Pulse Wristwatch Get Me Out Of The Health Club More Quickly?

It's amazing how in one generation things can change so much. I have gone from seeing my parents' generation workout seldom, if at all, to my generation - myself included- who feels guilty for not working out all seven days of the week!

Blame the pulse monitor watch. It is turning out to be both a curse and a blessing.

There have been a number of products from the market that enhance the workout experience. We all know at least a little bit about our health and how our bodies work. For example our maximum heart rate is not the heart rate which workout at the majority the time. Instead, we should work out in the 65% range.

But, to do that we have got to know what our maximum is and we've got to be able to monitor our heart rate while working out. If you get a heart pulse watch, you can know at any given moment - real-time - what you're heart rate is as you are working out.

So, if you know for example that your maximum heart rate is 190, then you should be working out to burn fat at approximately 65% of that or about 140 or so. It's very hard to maintain exactly 65% but as long as you're aware of staying in that range, you can provide yourself with the best possible workout.

Taking data while you are working out allows you to measure your progress. You can write down what your pulse rate was during your workout and for how long you kept it there. As you progress and get better, you will notice you can stay there for longer and longer periods of time.

Your heart rate information is very important during your workout. If we are not knowledgeable about that type of information we tend to be sloppy in what we do. You and I both see people around the gym all the time just standing or walking around - just talking to each other and not really working out at all.

It is hard to do that if you know your primary mission in going to the gym is to get on some type of cardiovascular device and maintain a specific heart rate for a given period of time.

Taking this type of data can also be a true motivator. It becomes sort of a game that you play with yourself, with the end result being improvement of your overall health.

A pulse watch can be a big part of that because it allows you to take the data and understand it. The more sophisticated and expensive heart pulse watch types allow you to download the information instantaneously via Bluetooth the moment you get around your computer.

Simply put, the heart pulse watch will allow you to improve your workout by giving you real time feedback on what you're doing in the gym.
