When you talk about rugs, you will know that there are lots of types in rugs. However, machine made rugs and handmade rugs are the two of the basic types. Both of these types have their own importance and people choose them according to their needs and budget but handmade rugs are always better in quality and also handmade rugs are expensive.

Handmade rugs are expensive because they are made in some very specific countries like Turkey, India, Iran and few others. These countries export their handmade rugs all across the globe that increases their demand as well as their price. To meet the increasing demands of rugs, synthetic materials are being used in rugs but these synthetic materials are not of better quality and people still prefer handmade rugs more. In U.S most of the rugs are machine made and also of synthetic materials.

These materials are also not very effective for your health and for some sensitive skins, they can carry allergies. Especially if you have kids and pets at house, you must always avoid using rugs made from synthetic materials.

There are lots of natural materials that are used to make rugs and wool is one of the best materials for this purpose. In the past pure wool rugs were the most famous rugs and most sold rugs also. They were very expensive and because it is very difficult to spin pure wool, these were made in very simple geometric designs. These days wool is mixed with cotton and silk. These materials are also natural but they are mix with wool just to enhance the designing and to give wool a more unique and attractive look.

By mixing it with cotton and silk, it can be made in very complicated and versatile designs. Similarly there are different qualities of these rugs and even in handmade rugs, there are different qualities. If you buy a Turkish handmade rug that will cost you the highest while you can have economical handmade rugs made in Chine or India. Some people often get confused because they cannot distinguish between handmade and machine made rugs. There is a simple formula for spotting the difference. If you see them from the back side, you will notice that machine made rugs have a very faint design on their back while handmade rugs will have a very prominent design.

Even experts can tell you the difference by just touching the rugs. If you are shopping for the first time for rugs, you can accompany someone professional to make sure that you do not fall in fake hands because there are so many people out there who can sell you fake quality in real handmade price. You need to be very careful and while buying expensive handmade rugs, you must ask for guaranteed certification from the dealer. rugs can add lots of colors and style in your house but at the same time they also provide warmth to your feet and make sure that your feet will remain hot in cold weather.
