The possibilities for corporations to benefit from cloud solutions are expanding each year. The scope of services available is likely to increase more in the next few years. The options on offer are likely to make many enterprises consider the possibilities for the first time. Cloud computing companies offer scalable solutions and the cost can be reasonable for most enterprises. The chance to store data through the web hosting services of a third party can save costs of purchasing extra hardware and employing more computer specialists. The fees paid to the service provider can be in proportion to the services used in a particular period of time. If an enterprise is coming to the limits of its server storage capacity and must find a solution to the lack of space, a service provider may offer a flexible solution on the cloud. Above all the options available are affordable for the majority of corporations. At times when additional capacity is needed, the enterprise may pay for extra storage capacity in the cloud. At other times this capacity may not be necessary and when it is not used the costs will be lower. This flexibility enables the corporation to use the capacity in a cost effective way. The services are on offer for all hours of the day and night, so the flexibility is increased. As systems are hosted by the service provider the staff of the enterprise may if authorized access the relevant data files at any hour and can continue their work uninterrupted at all hours. In the next two or three years the range of flexible options will increase and the possibilities available to businesses will further expand. The scope of the computing services on offer will increase. This is inevitable as the intercloud takes shape. The idea behind the intercloud is that the clouds associated with different service providers can gain the ability to communicate between themselves. This means that corporations will not be tied to a single service provider for all their software services and they will have the flexibility to change providers more frequently by transferring data from one cloud to the next. The various service providers will have a greater ability to transfer data between their servers and this will open up the possibility for enterprises to take advantage of the most efficient service provider at any particular moment. Different functions within a corporation may therefore be handled by different service providers and they will switch from one provider to another as soon as another option becomes more efficient than their existing provider. This development will have consequences for the service providers themselves. They will need to make sure that each package they make available is priced correctly and that the services they provide are more efficient than those of their competitors. Where another provider produces a more effective solution to a particular problem the customer will be able to switch to the services of the competitor almost instantly. As a result of these developments it is quite possible that the number of enterprises looking for cloud computing solutions will grow rapidly. There will also be a greater incentive on the cloud hosting companies to come up with innovative packages. This will be good for business because cloud management possibilities will be more flexible and effective services will be made available for lower prices.
