How to Choose a Location for Your Destination Wedding

Since getting married is supposed to be a one-time occasion that lasts for the rest of your life, your wedding is a major life event. Some people prefer a traditional religious ceremony, some prefer a smaller, more intimate gathering and others choose something altogether different. The concept of the destination wedding isn't necessarily new, but it enables you to sort of combine your wedding and honeymoon into one, and enjoy it all with your family and friends. A destination wedding also eliminates a lot of the preparation and planning form the bride and groom's perspective, making it even more appealing. Of course, the main question when it comes to a destination wedding is, where should you go?

It's very important that both the bride and groom are on the same page about the location. You both might not be set on the exact same place, but narrowing it down so you can each be happy will make the whole experience more memorable. Several different factors should go into your decision about where to go for your destination wedding. The first element to consider is your budget. Knowing how much you're able to spend right from the start will make the process a whole lot easier. It's also important to know if you're footing the bill for the entire wedding party, or just the two of you.

Once your budget is set and you know whom you're paying for, you can start looking for a location for your destination wedding. Start by figuring out the type of climate you want to be married in. Do you prefer a hot, tropical climate or something more moderate? What kinds of activities will you want to do during the time you are there? Are the two of you more into surfing and lounging on the beach or visiting historical European landmarks? You must also figure out if the wedding and honeymoon will be in the same spot, or if you're going to travel after you're married.

One strategy for a destination wedding is to explore all-inclusive wedding vacations. This will help you stretch your budget and will be easier to plan the wedding and honeymoon. All-inclusive wedding vacations are like regular all-inclusive vacations in that most of the elements of the trip are included in one price. All-inclusive wedding vacations are probably your best bet if you're paying for members of the wedding party or other guests. You'll have to ask your specific destination wedding planner which details are included.

It's also a good idea to think ahead into the future when choosing a destination wedding location. What do you think you'll want to see and show your kids and grandkids in pictures and videos of your big day? You can likely find all-inclusive beach wedding vacations to virtually any type of location, so think about the statement you'd like your wedding photos and videos to make. Sandy beaches and bright sun are great for many people, but not all people. Consider every element of your destination wedding, so you choose the spot that's perfect for the two of you.
