For most people, visiting Italy is a major cultural vacation that takes a lot of planning. Italy vacations usually mean a long flight, currency exchange and language barrier once you arrive. Signing up for specific Italy vacation packages can make the whole experience a little less hectic and ensure you get to see all the sights you'd hoped for. A tour of Italy generally includes several historic regions and buildings. Italy tours may end up being relatively costly compared to some other vacations, but the experience is well worth it. Plus, taking advantage of Italy vacation packages will likely give you a break on the cost.

Most Italy vacation packages and Italy tours will include a visit to Rome. Inside Rome, you can visit the Castel Sant'Angelo, the Capitoline museums, the Villa Celimontana and the Pantheon. Italy vacations should also include a visit to the Coliseum in Rome, which is easily one of the world's most recognizable pieces of architecture. Rome is a historic city filled with culture, museums and art that any tour of Italy should definitely include.

Venice is another famous Italian city that is a must-see for Italy tours. When you book your Italy vacation packages, be sure to ask if Venice is included. Venice boasts some of Italy's treasures, including the Accademia, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the famous Palazzi and the Rialto bridge. St. Marks's square is another area that your tour of Italy shouldn't leave out. It is full of life and people and acts as a vibrant center to the whole city. All Italy vacations, whether part of a package or not, should include Venice.

In Milan, the San Lorenzo Columns, Stadio Meazza and San Siro Museum are all hotspots for tourists. Most Italy vacation packages will also take you to the Duomo, which is one of the largest churches in the world. The Duomo is a feat of architecture, with 135 spires and roughly 3,400 statues. Your tour of Italy should also fit in a trip to Florence, where the famous statue of David by Michelangelo is kept. The statue is housed in the Galleria dell'Accademia and was originally commissioned in 1501. The Boboli Gardens and Uffizi Gallery are other Florence landmarks you'll want as part of your Italy vacation.

A visit to the town of Pisa to view the famous leaning tower is a good way to spend time on Italy tours. Another building in Pisa you'll want to see as part of Italy vacation packages is the Romanesque cathedral. The Piazza del Campo in Siena features the Palio horserace, and the Torre del Mangia bell tower is also in Siena. Whatever type of Italy vacation packages and Italy tours you look at, try to decide on one that includes all or at least most of the landmarks and cities you wish to visit. Italy vacations don't come along everyday, so try to make the most of your visit and bring home as many memories as possible.
