When you have wool rugs or carpets at home, you must know that they are very expensive and they need proper care for long lasting use. They need to be cleaned after regular intervals and you must clean them with proper method and care so that they do not get damaged. It is often seen that people damage their expensive and beautiful rugs just by washing and cleaning them with improper methods. First of all is vacuuming your carpet or rug because without proper vacuuming, you will never be able to clean them properly. Use a vacuum that comes with a beater so that the vacuum should not go deep into the rug or carpet and will stay on top surface. Some people just vacuum one side of their carpet or rug but it is important that you do it on both sides. With wool rugs, vacuuming becomes more essential because wool has some air pockets that can accumulate dust and soil inside.

You also should use only neutral cleaning products and avoid using alkaline products because that can damage the fiber of your rugs as well they can damage the dyes of these carpets. Even while using some alkaline product to remove some stain, you should neutralize it with some acidic solution as soon as possible. Make sure that you do not waste any time after cleaning your carpets and dry them as quickly as possible because if you delay cleaning process, your carpet or rug will get brown and that will not look very attractive. For quicker drying, you can turn on a fan. If you have handmade rugs, they are always more delicate and they need more attention while cleaning. These handmade rugs are also very expensive and any damage to their surface can give you huge loss of money. These are made with natural fiber and natural dyes are used in them that make them even more delicate.

There are also machine made rugs available in the market. These are made from artificial and synthetic fiber mostly and chemical dyes are used in them. These are easier to clean and you do not need to give too much attention and care to these rugs. Even these can be cleaned with an alkaline solution because there are already enough chemicals in their surface that this chemical does not affect them. Still, you should try and clean them properly and after proper vacuuming because it is better to be cautious than to face any loss. These are some basic things that you should take care while cleaning your rugs and if these are too complex for you, you should let some professional do it. Especially when you have some expensive handmade rugs at home, you must take care of them and make sure that they last long. You can do so many mistakes that can damage your expensive rugs while a professional will have enough experience to handle them with care. These are the tips for cleaning your wool rugs at home that you must follow.
