The residential wind turbine is a recent innovation that is taking the alternative energy scene by storm. Just a few years ago the only place that you would see these type devices was on a farm in rural Oklahoma or Texas. Now, they are everywhere. You see such devices in the middle of large cities on roofs or at the roof line where turbines that almost look like part of the gutter can harvest the wind energy and create electricity for city dwellers. This would've been impossibility just a few years ago before all the attention put on developing alternative energy scenarios like this. That being said, there are three big reasons that residential wind turbine devices will be the primary driving force behind America electrifying with something other than the current fossil fuel sources: 1. Traditional sources of fuel to run central power plants are running out rapidly. This should be no real surprise to any of us. The fossil fuel that we use is made up of hydrocarbon molecules that were created by the decomposition of life forms millions of years ago. That degradation and concentration over a long period of time was what created these hydrocarbons and unless were willing to wait for that cycle to recur, we are not going to make any more fossil fuels - end of story. There is no real intelligent debate over whether we will eventually run out. The political questions that dominate our discussions now are more over how quickly we can access what resources we have left and who has the right to claim them. Without a doubt, we need to be moving very quickly toward establishing our own ways of making electricity at home if we want to ensure that it will deal available. The politicians are just too focused on getting reelected and aren't really keeping their eye on this ball for us like we think they should be. 2. The pollution created by burning fossil fuels to make electricity is choking our atmosphere. Whether or not you believe Global Warming is just a natural embedded cycle or whether this pollution is man-made and evitable, it is a reality of modern life nonetheless that the electricity creating systems that we have in place are driving the state of the air that we breathe. In order to deal with this we need to use seriously consider making our own energy at home. It is really a courageous act on behalf of all the citizens of the planet to look at powering our ever-increasingly electrified lifestyles and making the energy for them at home with devices the like residential wind turbine. It takes us having the sense that we're looking out for our children's children in order to take positive steps in this direction. Summarizing - the energy world that we live in now is just too dependent on fuel resources that are shrinking at an alarming pace and the residential wind turbine can and should be a big part of the solution. It is delusional to think that we could have an infinite source of electricity available through an admittedly finite fuel source like fossil fuels. When all the political dust clears, at the end of the day we will be forced to pick a new energy source and then, another when that one runs out. The sooner we can do that and take action to move along that continuum, the better.
