Wind Generators For Homes: Is Just One Of Them Enough To Do ?

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articleforbacklinks.com/rss.php?rss=92
By : Roger Brown

Wind turbines for homes are one of the most revolutionary new products to hit the renewable energy market in some time. The flexibility of this device allows home owners to quickly set up and begin making energy at their houses. The technology is extremely straightforward and is easy for most do-it-yourselfers to understand intuitively.

The big question though is what exactly do you want to do with the energy that you make?

There are a number of different things that you can do with the electricity made with wind turbines for homes. While it would be nice to power your entire house with the energy that you harvest from the wind, that is extremely uncommon. It would take a huge array of wind turbines even in a high wind environment to accomplish a goal that ambitious.

A lot more realistic scenario is to power a small device like your refrigerator or freezer or maybe even a small pump of some kind. Those are devices that don't use that much energy continuously. They tend to cycle and that is a great application for wind turbines for homes since you are usually charging a set of batteries.

That being said, you still need to take some effort upfront and make sure that the amount of wind generating capacity that you purchase matches the job that you have intended for the electricity that you make. Even if you are doing nothing but charging a battery it makes sense to slow down and study exactly what you might do with the wind device. Most people have at least several options that they can seriously consider.

The first thing of course is to understand as well what you're wind resources are. Everyone's are not the same as you might well imagine. I am working with a project in Colorado now that has extremely high potential because it has a continuous wind flow of approximately 11 miles an hour at 80 feet in the air. Even so it will take an array of eight wind turbines at that height to be able to even partially power the manufacturing plant that those turbines are intended power.

So, one device is seldom enough to do a large job but it well may be quite enough power to supply a small device or simply charge a battery. With wind turbines for homes, you must take enough data to prove that the size turbine you buy will fit the application that you have in mind.
