Where do you find the best wind generators for your home? With the proliferation of new renewable energy solutions out on the market these days, there are literally hundreds of wind turbines for home use that are making it to the market every year. This does not make it any easier for you to choose which one will be best for your particular situation. Many are available in kit form and him and him and him and him. Everyone\'s objective is to get the most for their money. You want to pay the least amount up front, but also make the most electricity that can be made from a device of this kind. However, the manufacturers don\'t make your selection process that easy in those objectives can be mutually exclusive. First, there are 2 basic types of home windmills that you need to be aware of: 1. Vertical axis turbines - these turn a vertical axis and are usually mounted on a roof. They are quite inefficient (35%) but are made with ornamental designs that make them a lot more susceptible to the neighbors. 2. Horizontal axis turbines - this is the traditional Dutch windmill. Horizontal axis turbine spins parallel to the earth surface. These are the least expensive windmills on the market because they have been out there the longest. Also, the most efficient, at approximately 55%. Secondly, once you understand the basics regarding the types of windmills you can buy, you need to take some time and evaluate which one will be best for your particular application. The way to do that is not something you can do superfast, but it is something you must do if you are going to optimize your purchase. There are two steps that you need to take to make sure you\'re considering the best wind generators and the opportunity they provide: 1. Understand the dimensions of the wind on your property - everywhere on your property has a different wind signature. For example, the wind on your roof is pretty chaotic but can provide a good source for wind creation if you locate the windmill in the correct place. The optimal place however, is always high up on top of the tower, but that is very expensive. The tower can cost as much as the wind turbine itself. So, you need to understand both the speed and direction the wind flows at various points on your property. 2. Then, understand what your local community has to say about your installation - you need to be sensitive to what your neighbors like and dislike about wind turbines. This will manifest itself in local community rules the either prohibit altogether or limit the size and type the windmills that you can put up. Whichever way you go, the best wind generators are the ones that fit your particular circumstances on your property. The careful and understand up front the parameters that you are dealing with and you won\'t go wrong.
