The installation of wind turbines on your property doesn't have to be all that complicated, but you need to look carefully at your options. This is the stage where you can save a lot of money for yourself and installation by taking some time upfront to optimize your purchase. There are several ways you can get your windmill installed: Do it yourself - this is always an option, but it takes a lot of time. You have got to be willing to invest a good amount of your free time to correctly assess, construct, assemble, and install the wind turbine. The installation itself is a project all by itself. If you're talking about a large wind turbine that may be capable of powering your entire house, you may have to pour a foundation for a standalone tower. That will likely require a permit from your local city or county government to accomplish. Hire an outside contractor to get it up and running for you - the other end of the spectrum is for you just hire an outside contractor to perform installation of your wind turbine for you. The advantage here is you don't have to get into understanding details about an installation when it's unlikely you'll have to repeat it. Letting someone else do it allows you to take advantage of that expertise and working with city planning departments and any specifics about the design that require interaction with the manufacturer. Hybrid approach - try it yourself and get the contractor to finish it, or the other way around - let the contractor start it and pay them to show you what needs to be done to finish and complete the project. This hybrid approach allows you to learn about how wind turbines are installed so that the next time - if you end of installing another later - you can possibly do it entirely yourself. These are the approaches that other people have taken for installation of wind turbines. Once you've made the decision to move forward and buy a wind turbine, it is equally important for you to take the time to adequately think through the entire scope of the project. This includes where you were going to put it and how exactly you go about installing the turbine so as to ensure its long life in the field. The main thing is to not let the installation of wind turbines slow down the overall project and keep you from reaping the benefits of free wind energy.
