The Honeywell wind turbine is quite possibly the best on the market right now. This home wind device is 6 feet in diameter and is most likely going to need to be placed on your roof. It looks like a large floor fan actually and is made out of a combination of plastic and galvanized aluminum. So, it is rather aesthetically appealing and will not likely cause any negative repercussions when the neighbors walk by and notice it. Possibly the strongest advantage of this Honeywell wind turbine has is its super-low cut-in speed. Cut-in speed is a term used to describe the lowest air velocity that will move the turbine and begin to make electricity. The cut-in speed for the Honeywell wind turbine is less than 1 mph. Compare that with alternatives which typically have cut-in speeds in the 6 to 7 mile-per-hour range. This feature alone can make the over $6000 price tag a lot more digestible. By having a low-cut-and speed, you can take advantage of a lot of low wind scenarios where otherwise you wouldn't be able to make any power at all from the wind. This brings into stark relief the difference between the center of the country and the rest of the states. Right now, it is difficult to have a slam-dunk wind turbine project for your home if you're not in one of the states ranging from Texas all the way up the Canadian border. While you can make some significant power on the coast, the rest of the states have a hard time making wind work. Their average wind speeds are just too low to make power on a consistent basis. However, with a very low cut-in speed - like we have with the Honeywell wind turbine - that all changes. If you can make power with winds that are less than one mile-per-hour, then again totally changes. Those states that were formerly dogs, all of a sudden become rich environments for making electricity out of wind. As more and more of these devices get out into the field, prices will come down which will mean even more of these devices will be seen in homes all across the country. This of course will have a depressing effect on prices and it will make it a lot more affordable for everyone to own a renewable energy device like a Honeywell wind turbine at their home. If you are in the market for a home renewable energy system, strongly consider the Honeywell wind turbine.
