Can Wind Turbine Kits Work Without Batteries?

We see wind turbine kits all over the Internet these days. These wind devices have become the favorite product of renewable energy market because it is a simple and easy way to get started making green energy at home. They tend to work especially well in the center of the country there are wind turbines around every corner.

That is largely because we are running out of fossil fuels. The Golden age of fossil fuels making electricity will soon be over. We're reading the final chapter in that book now and we've got to move on the next source as quickly as possible in order to maintain our electricity and electronics driven lifestyles.

As great as wind turbine kits are they still have limitations. Unless you are in a very wind rich section of the country, like the stretcher goes from Texas up the to the Canadian border, you may have times during the day when you cannot make enough electricity from the wind in order to power a device, or power your home.

That can be a real problem. Especially if you are hooking up something like a mission-critical device like a freezer which requires constant power 24/7.

The solution all this is to let your wind turbine or other renewable energy device charge a battery, or a set of batteries. By doing that, you take the guesswork out of the renewable energy equation.

That way, the battery, not the wind generator, is actually supplying electricity to the device. All you are really doing with the wind turbine is charging the battery were set of batteries.

When you do this you have to have a large number of lead acid batteries at your disposal. The wind turbine that creates DC, or direct-current power will charge the batteries. Then the batteries deplete and the power is inverted or change to AC or alternating current power to be consumed by the device that you have hooked up the wind turbine to.

You may need a very large bank of batteries in order to supply power to your own home, but you can get away with a lot less if you are just powering something like a refrigerator or a small pump.

All in all, wind turbine kits become a lot more practical if you're using battery pack power to actually drive electricity to the device that you're trying to run with wind. Making the primary mission of wind turbine kits to simply charge the batteries makes the process a lot simpler and it certainly reduces the stress level in trying to make sure you have enough power to run your equipment.
