If you are considering windmills for home power you need to carefully assess the wind on your property first. Many people start from the assumption that wind will work for them because they know they live in a windy location or that they see other wind turbines around them. That is not always the case though and a little time in analyzing and planning before you look at any actual machines could save you a lot of money in the long run. Finally, it is wise to check out local rules about where you can put a wind turbine on your property. It may only require a permit and you are on your way, but it is best to know ahead of time. That way, you can keep from investing if a wind turbine simply won't work where you live. It is always best to know what you are getting into. Windmills for home power are no different.
