When you purchase wind turbines there are a lot more ways to mess things up than there are to get them right. That is because most people buying this type of product are novices. Most folks will not buy but one wind turbine in their lifetime. So, there is not a wealth of understanding out there about how to go about it. To purchase wind turbines is a lot like being a parent. None of us come in to that proposition knowing very much about how to do it. We might've been a little knowledgeable and we might've seen some examples of parentage along the way, but for the most part we are grappling at roots as we slide down the hill of life. So, what is the biggest way to screw up when you purchase wind turbines? Without a doubt the biggest mistake most people make is not thoroughly analyzing what their wind resources actually are. Everyone just assumes that since the wind is blowing outside their window that they have enough wind energy to justify the acquisition and installation of a wind device on their land. Nothing could be further from the truth though, it takes some time and data collection to be able justify putting up a device this expensive. When you purchase wind turbines you have to have this mindset. The easiest way to go about this is by collecting some data. The weather charts that most people use are based on ZIP code and aren't specific enough to tell you whether or not you got enough wind resources available on your property or even on the location that you have in mind install the device. For that you really need to collect data on your property. There is no substitute for that unfortunately. Thankfully it's not that different will do it just takes a little bit of money and some persistence and some patience. The money needed to get this done is not that bad. You can buy one of these little anemometers for as little as $30 or $40 on the Internet. They will set up a top a tower collect data for as long as you leave them there. You can then download that information to your computer and analyze trends and averages in order to properly size the wind device to meet your specific conditions. In summary, when you purchase wind turbines you must do your homework to avoid a big mistake. The mistake most people make is simply getting too big a hurry and not taking the time or effort to understand what it is they are working with on their own land. The wind is different everywhere you go so you got to separate and understand exactly what you're doing order to make the most of this type of project.
