Postcards are a very popular way for friends on vacation to share a short message along with a picture of where they are visiting. How many times have you received one and wished you were there with your friends? They are a quick concise way to express both thoughts and images. That is one of the reasons why they make such a great tool for businesses. You can quickly get your message across and enhance it with a beautiful graphic or image that reaffirms your statement. For instance you are having a sale on a particular item that you know is a hot seller. Along with a description and notice of the sale you include a photo of the item you are offering. More customers will see your message in this format than if you send it out in a letter. Chances are the envelope will never be opened which means you message is never seen. Potential buyers may be lost because they did not bother to open up the mail. On a postcard the information is right there in front of them. It will catch their attention whether they want it to or not. Sending it through the mail it passes through the hands of many people who will also see the message. While you may pick up a new buyer or two this way if your offer is really good and exciting and people start talking about it word of mouth is always the best advertisement. Getting customers to walk through your door for a sale item is a great way to introduce new people to your store. Another benefit to using post cards is that printing costs are less than a letter and envelope and there is also a discount on the postage rate. It is much cheaper to send a card through the mail than a letter. This is especially true if you are doing a bulk mailing. If you do not have your own mailing list you can buy a targeted list to use for your mailing. People are bombarded with advertisements all day long wherever they turn. Television commercials, radio ads, newspaper and magazines, even the internet and email are full of advertisements. These days in order to reach your potential customers you need to come up with innovative ideas that will get their attention. A well thought out and designed post card campaign just might do the trick. Depending on the type of business or product you are promoting there are several ways to take advantage of this type of marketing. Your card may offer a discount when presented in the store or a two for one sale. Another hook to get customers into your store is by holding a drawing using the postcards as entries. Next time you are trying to come up with a novel way to advertise your business or next big sale consider trying this approach. Keep your message simple and the graphics compelling to grab the attention of anyone reading the card. A little humor also goes a long ways in catching attention.
