Wind Powered Generator Kit: Just What Is A VAWT?

[Valid RSS feed]  Category Rss Feed - http://www.articleforbacklinks.com/rss.php?rss=92
By : Roger Brown

As we are considering wind turbine kit devices there are several types that we must seriously look into if we are going to optimize the power we produce it in a particular spot. It is very critical that we go to school on the types that are available and where those types are best applied.

The VAWT is a "vertical axis wind turbine". This means that the device spins on a shaft that is oriented perpendicular to the surface of the earth.

There are several characteristics that make the VAWT unique…

First of all, this type of wind turbine device has no tail assembly. This means that unlike the HAWT or horizontal wind turbine device, the vertical axis wind turbine is free to spin in whatever direction wind happens to blow it.

This can be enormously helpful if you happen to be in a chaotic environment for wind like your roof. With all the angles in various geometries that tend to redirect the wind from its original path, you can expect turbulent conditions on your roof.

In the case of the horizontal axis wind turbine, that happens to have a tail to orient it in the best prevailing wind direction, the vertical axis wind turbine does not have this limitation. So, it will not be limited in such a turbulent environment. It can easily and continuously shift back and forth between different directions that the wind happens to be turning it and produce energy in all directions. As long as the turbine is spinning, it will be producing power for you.

Therefore, the vertical axis wind turbines are wind turbine kits that fits best in uncertain wind conditions. If you are going to place your wind turbine up on the roof of your house, the best place to put it is on the eve, or the highest point. That way you will be taking advantage of the strongest and most direct wind flow.

With all the attention nowadays on renewable energy products of all kinds, it just makes sense to look carefully at wind energy products and the various options that you have available to you and installing them at various locations.

In conclusion, the wind turbine kit that will serve you best is the one that most accurately is designed to fit the location where you have it placed. There is no one right answer. You just have to fit the wind device to the task you have intended for it.
