A Review Of The New Nook Color

Barnes and Noble have taken a major leap into the tech world with their amazing new e-reader tablet the Nook Color. Barnes and Noble stepped into the eBook market not too long ago and the company has already taken up a large space in the market share. The launch of the new Nook Color is a major step forward in the right direction. The Nook Color is a tablet e-reader with a full color 7 inch LCD display and gives you access to over 2.5 million books to read online. This includes your favorite magazines, interactive kid's books, and periodicals. Not only that, the Nook Color also packs in other essential tablet features such as e-mail, web, and Wi-Fi too. You can even download apps like Angry Birds, and the smooth touchscreen functionality lets you play away with ease. It works on an Android based platform and with a reasonable price tag, offers good competition to the big players like Galaxy Tab and iPad. The Nook vs Kindle competition is fierce as they are both priced similar to each other. The Kindle Fire is the main competitor of the Nook.

It's pretty evident on the very first look that a good deal of thought has gone into the design of the Nook Color. The front side is of course the 7 inch LCD display, with edges and sides done up in a charcoal matte finish plastic. The back is made up of soft, smooth rubber which gives the Nook Color it's ruggedly good looks. A tiny piece of detail that makes a lot of statement is the tiny hook like structure on the bottom left hand corner. Well incorporated into the design, this small flair lets you attach a lanyard or slip a finger through for easy portability. Near the top of the Nook Color on the side is a power/sleep button and on the face is a button that easily takes you to the home screen from wherever you are. The Nook Color sports a 3.5 mm headphone jack and has a speaker at the back. Being just about 0.48 inches in thickness, the Nook Color looks sleek and sturdy.

Upon booting the device, you get to the central of the three homescreens. Here, you can line up the books you are reading, view your recently downloaded content and access a lot of other features. Nook Color offers friendly navigation and a good interface. The library section is well structured and organized allowing you to arrange your books, magazines and periodicals and in addition to that, also allows you to save your own music, videos, and even PDFs in a separate 'my files' section. So if you are an avid reader and your love for reading goes beyond eBooks to magazines, periodicals, and interactive books, the Nook Color is a great product just for you.
