The Nook vs Kindle war seems to go on. The passion for reading books has now gone hi-tech with the introduction of top notch eReaders. The Nook Color from the house of Barnes and Noble, and the Kindle Fire from Amazon are the forerunners in the race to be the top eReader. Amazon is world's largest online retailer and has a legacy in books. Barnes and Noble aren't far behind either. This company has made a great impact on the eBook market in a short span of time. Considering the reputation of both these companies, the Nook vs Kindle rivalry is sure to be a close fight.

Both the Nook and Kindle Fire have a 7 inch high resolution display. Upon first look, the Nook does seem to have a brighter, clearer display that makes it easy to read books even in bright light. The display in the new models of the Kindle too isn't far behind. Though the earlier version of Kindle only had a grayscale display, the new Kindle Fire has a vibrant color display.

The Nook definitely scores in the department of storage. It gives you 16 GB internal memory which on its own is huge. Plus it also gives you to option to attach a memory card to further expand your memory. The Kindle is a tad behind in terms of storage with only 8 GB of internal memory, about 2 GB of which, is consumed by the OS leaving you with only a little over 6 GB. This is however compensated by Kindle's cloud storage. This is a distinct feature in Kindle which allows you to store your data on the Amazon server and access it from any computer with internet access.

The most important comparison between the two however is in terms of content availability. These are both eReaders after all, and the main purpose of buyers is reading more books. Kindle seems to sweep the field in this department as Amazon is after all the pioneer in online books. Kindle offers a huge stockpile of books available for download. It comes with a free trial after which, you can have subscription to millions of books for just $79 an year. Apart from the books, Kindle also offers thousands of movies, videos and songs for download. Nook on the other hand, has no dedicated app store for movies or music and you must find your own content and download it.

The Kindle also seems to win big in the price department. The Nook is almost a hundred dollars more expensive than the Kindle which is likely to set off the buyers. Its looks like the Kindle from Amazon is set to be a winner in the Kindle vs Nook race. However, what exactly you are looking for in your eReader will make all the difference to your choice.
