A Look At The Improved Kindle Touch

The Kindle Touch from Amazon is an upgrade of the earlier version of Amazon's eBook reader Kindle. The new Kindle Touch offers some impressive new features with a 6 inch multi-touch screen display that makes reading books even more pleasurable. Most importantly, it brings back the joy of turning the pages of a book with its touch slide feature. Also, the buttons from the earlier Kindle are gone, and the entire space is now dedicated to a capacitive touch screen.

The Kindle Touch feels a tad heavier than the original Kindle. However, this doesn't at all make it any bulkier. It's very comfortable to hold and use. At the bottom, there is a power/sleep button and a USB slot for data transfer and charging. The Kindle Touch has a 3.5mm jack for headset and also has inbuilt speakers along the back. It offers you a 4 GB storage which is quite ample for a large number of books.

Kindle Touch offers some impressive new features in terms of performance. The first of course is the transitioning from page to page which is now so much smoother. You can tap on the right and left margin to go to the next or previous page respectively. Or you can just slide the page along. While reading, you can press and hold on any word or phrase and this action will open up a popup menu that allows you to look up the meaning of that word or share it on your social networks. This too is a charming feature. The screen refresh controls can be set at every page, or every six pages. Changing font size can be done easily using the pinch zoom functionality.

The Kindle Touch offers a very good battery life. If Amazon claims are anything to go by, you can use your Kindle Touch for a month without charging and an hour of daily reading. Being an eReader, the most important facet is the books on Kindle. Amazon allows you to have millions of books for just $9.99. Also, you can get an Amazon prime membership for just $79 a year. This will allow you to borrow books from over 5000 titles which include 100 titles from New York Times Bestsellers. Not only books, Kindle offers an excellent interface for reading newspapers and magazines too. This new device along with the new Kindle Fire, only adds to the Nook vs Kindle Competition.

The Kindle store can be accessed from the eReader but you have to complete a onetime sign up process on your PC to access the Amazon store. Thereafter, any purchases you make will be directly sent to your Kindle. So if you are an eBook enthusiast, the svelte new Kindle Touch is the right choice for you.
